HOUSTON – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup awaits its champion, with the United States, the second-most winner in the competition with seven trophies, against Mexico in the long-awaited Final on Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, USA.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino and select players previewed the decisive match at Saturday’s Media Day.

Head Coach Mauricio Pochettino

We want to compete the same way we have been doing since the beginning of the tournament.

We feel proud because to be in the final was the objective, now the next step is to win the final…The final is about winning. The most important thing is to win the trophy.

Forward Malik Tillman

It means a lot to me, to the whole team, to the whole nation. There’s a trophy to fight for, and everyone is ready for it. Our goal is clear, we want to win tomorrow and then celebrate the title.

If we stick to our plan tomorrow, we have a chance. So, it’s about us. We’re only focusing on us tomorrow…Our goal is clear.

Defender Tim Ream

It’s going to be ten times what it was Wednesday against Guatemala. Its more intense, there’s more pressure, the atmosphere is greater. These are the moments that you live to play for. These are the games that you want to play in. You want to play in atmospheres like this, and there’s nothing to shy away from. The want to win is going to be greater on both sides, and we are prepared for that.

This more than likely is my last Gold Cup. I’m excited to have the opportunity to play in the final and lift the trophy.

Goalkeeper Matt Freese

I think we proved that we can surprise people, but at the end of the day the goal is to win, the goal is to be number one. We haven’t done our job yet. We haven’t proved what we wanted to prove, so the job is not finished.

I grew up watching these games, dreaming to be in these games, more importantly dreaming of winning these games. So that’s what it’s about tomorrow. The goal is to win, plain and simple.

Midfielder Diego Luna

The team is very young, and we’re guys that are growing and fighting for a spot and showcase ourselves. Tomorrow is a great moment to be on the big stage and really put a performance out there.

We are going to focus on ourselves and execute, and make sure that we are putting in the work because we know it’s going to be a very hard game. Going into this match tomorrow, we are all excited and we’re ready. One more game to lift the trophy.

Defender Chris Richards

I think there’s been a lot of success this summer just with how the team has grown, but me personally I like to win trophies, especially against Mexico.

If we don’t win tomorrow, I’ll be disappointed, but when you look at the overall scheme of the whole camp, it’s been a summer full of growth.
