MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup will see Suriname make its second appearance in the tournament.
Suriname will feature in Group A with Mexico, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic. The team is managed by Surinamese coach Stanley Menzo.
The nation’s latest qualification came as one of the winners in the 2025 Gold Cup Prelims. The team won 2-nil on aggregate against Martinique to book its spot in the summer spectacle.
The nation’s journey kicked off in Group A of League A in the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League alongside Costa Rica, Guatemala, Martinique, Guadeloupe and Guyana. Suriname earned a 2-1-1 record to advance to the CNL quarterfinals as the second-best team from its group.
The Suriname national team opened its campaign with a 3-1 road win at Guyana, followed by a 1-nil loss at Guadeloupe and a 1-1 draw at home against Costa Rica. The decisive final group stage match presented a dominant 5-1 win on home turf against Guyana to advance.
The CNL quarterfinals matched up Suriname against Canada, with the latter ultimately winning the series 4-nil on aggregate. Suriname was then matched up with Martinique in an all-Caribbean affair in the 2025 Gold Cup Prelims.
Gyrano Kerk was the lone goal scorer in the first leg to help the team win 1-nil at home. Immanuel Pherai struck in the second leg to come out victorious 1-nil at Martinique and claim a 2-0 win on aggregate and advance to a second Gold Cup in the past three editions
