MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup will see the Dominican Republic participate for the first time in the tournament.
The Caribbean nation will feature in Group A alongside Mexico, Costa Rica and Suriname. Los Quisqueyanos will seek to leave a good first impression under the tutelage of Argentinian manager Marcelo Neveleff.
The Dominican Republic secured its historic first-ever qualification to the Gold Cup through a perfect campaign in League B of the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League.
The nation won its six encounters in Group D alongside Bermuda, Dominica and Antigua and Barbuda. The team won 3-2 at Bermuda in its opening match, followed by 2-nil win at home against Dominica and 5-nil wins in its two fixtures against Antigua and Barbuda. The team closed the group stage with a pair of 6-1 wins at Dominica and against Bermuda.
As a first-place team League B, the Dominican Republic secured promotion to League A and direct qualification to the 2025 Gold Cup.
Dorny Romero starred throughout the campaign and finished with 10 goals to collect the Top Scorer Award, presented by Aramco. Defender Junior Firpo dished out three assists and concluded the tournament as the Concacaf Nations League top assist provider.
