MIAMI — The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup Quarterfinals pits defending champions Mexico and guest nation Saudi Arabia on Saturday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.
The two nations meet for the first time in the Gold Cup as part of Saudi Arabia’s debut campaign. Mexico has reached the Knockout Stage for the 18th consecutive edition.
Mexico chasing La Décima
Mexico opened its title defense with a 2-1-0 record in the Group Stage. Following a 3-2 thriller in the opening match against the Dominican Republic, Mexico earned a 2-nil victory against Suriname and played to a nil-nil draw with Costa Rica.
Its results first place in Group A for Mexico. The all-time leaders in the tournament with nine trophies, Mexico has boasted a stout defense in the 2025 edition with two goals allowed and two clean sheets.
Four of Mexico’s five goals have come from set pieces. César Montes leads the team with three goals. Raúl Jiménez has scored the lone strike from the run of play.
Saudi Arabia debut continues into Quarterfinals
Saudi Arabia earned a 1-1-1 record to finish second in Group D to kick off its first Gold Cup campaign.
After a 1-nil win against Haiti, The Green Falcons fell 1-nil to the United States before earning a 1-1 draw with Trinidad and Tobago. Saleh Al-Shehri and Feras Albrikan have scored the goals for Saudi Arabia.
