MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf Gold Cup continues with Jamaica and Guadeloupe facing off in Group C on Friday at PayPal Park in San Jose, California, USA.
The occasion will mark the second meeting between the nations in the Gold Cup. They first played each other in the 2021 edition, when the Reggae Boyz claimed a 2-1 victory in Orlando, Florida. Jamaica is undefeated all-time against Guadeloupe in eight encounters, with six victories in favor.
Steve McClaren’s side will be on the hunt for their first points after being blanked 1-nil by Guatemala. That result marked only their fifth loss against a Central American team in tournament history.
Guadeloupe is coming off a 5-2 loss to Panama but did have some offensive output via goals from Jordan Leborgne and Florian David.
All-Time Series Jamaica v. Guadeloupe –
Jamaica and Guadeloupe will meet for the second time in Concacaf Gold Cup history. Their first encounter came on July 1, 2021, in Group C action at Exploria Stadium in Orlando, where Jamaica claimed a 2-1 win. Cory Burke (14’) and Junior Flemmings (87’) scored for the Reggae Boyz, while an early own goal by Amari’i Bell (4’) gave Guadeloupe a brief lead.
Guadeloupe has avoided defeat against Jamaica only twice in their eight-match series. Both results were draws:
- A 0-0 result in a friendly on June 13, 1966, at Sylvio Cator Stadium in Port-au-Prince
- A 1-1 draw in the 2010 Caribbean Cup final (Gold Cup qualifying), played on December 5, 2010. Ludovic Gotin scored for Guadeloupe (36’) and Omar Cummings for Jamaica (32’). Jamaica would go on to win 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
The most lopsided result in the series came in the 1999 Caribbean Cup. On June 5 in Port of Spain, Jamaica cruised to a 5-1 victory with goals from Fabian Davis (43’), Winston Griffiths (57’), and a hat trick from Rae Graham (62’, 74’, 83’). Plumasseau Didier scored Guadeloupe’s lone goal in the 69th minute.
