WASHINGTON, DC Jamaica edged the United States 1-0 in a pre-2019 Concacaf Gold Cup friendly on Wednesday Night at Audi Field in Washington D.C.

U.S. Head Coach Gregg Berhalter and Jamaica Head Coach Theodore Whitmore used the friendly to give minutes to an array of players in preparation for this summer’s Gold Cup.

Both defenses looked in mid-tournament form after the first half, with few chances mustered by either side.

Jamaica started to build momentum in the second half and five minutes after coming on as a second half substitute in the 55’, Shamar Nicholson scored the game-winning goal with a hard-hit right-footed shot from outside the area.

The U.S. looked to respond, but 2017 Gold Cup Golden Glove winner Andre Blake and the Jamaican defense secured the clean sheet and its second ever win against the U.S. on U.S. soil.
