MIAMI, Florida – On Monday, September 28, Concacaf will conduct the Draw for the 2021 Gold Cup in which 16 teams will look to win Concacaf’s most prestigious national team tournament.
This year, the Gold Cup will include three teams that have qualified from a 12-team field from the 2021 Gold Cup Prelims, which will also be drawn on Monday.
The top six teams based on the Concacaf Rankings as of August 2020 will be the seeded teams in Matches 1-6 in the Prelims. The remaining six teams in the Prelims will be drawn from Pot 1.
The Prelims will comprise the 12 national teams who qualified through their 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League performances, including the third placed teams from League A groups, the second placed teams from League B groups, and the winners of League C groups. Those teams are Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Cuba, French Guiana, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Haiti, Montserrat, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and Trinidad and Tobago.
The seeded teams in the Prelims Draw are the following: Haiti, Guatemala, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba, Guadeloupe and Bermuda.
The teams to be drawn from Pot 1 are the following: French Guiana, Guyana, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Barbados, Montserrat and Bahamas.
Also, the three teams that advance from the Prelims are placed into Pot 4 of the main 2021 Gold Cup Draw and, along with Qatar, will be drawn out of Pot 4.
The matches for the Prelims will be played in a direct elimination format and will take place July 2-6 at a centralized location in the United States.
