The 23-year-old Canada international, signed from Icelandic champions Valur, won two domestic cups in her first season with Fran Alonso's team.

MIAMI – There are players that look to extend their game and their presence beyond their comfort zone. For Canadian forward Clarissa Larisey, this has been the case since a very young age.

The 23-year-old attacker has been making a name for herself since college, being named to the conference’s All-Rookie Team when she played for the University of Memphis.

In 2021, she took the big jump across the ocean to start playing international football in the professional women’s leagues in Europe. She first landed in Iceland, where she played for Valur in the first division Icelandic women’s league. After making her debut and showing her style of play, she helped her team win the league title that same year.

Looking to keep challenging herself and to better her skills, she joined Scottish champions and legendary club Celtic later in 2021, making an impact on day one. Larsey wasted no time in scoring goals, notching her first one in the same month she made her debut. The team went on to win the League and the Cup that season, with the Canadian being an important key to achieving all that silverware, with 12 goals in 12 games.

Larsey has not only helped her clubs go places, but her national team as well. In 2022, she made her debut with the Canadian Women’s National Team, playing against Australia. She then kept receiving calls to camps, earning herself a spot on the roster. Since then, she has played friendlies, working toward her first call for an official tournament.

To keep up her form, at the beginning of 2023 Larisey joined Swedish team Häcken in the Damallsvenskan, Sweden’s professional women’s league. As soon as she stepped onto the field with her new team, she began making a difference. Larisey has been a mainstay in the starting XI since her arrival, and even scoring her first goal on January 20 against Alingsås IF, doing so within her first month wearing the black and yellow jersey.

Needless to say, as she has done in Memphis, Iceland and Scotland, as well as in Canada with the national team, Larisey will keep writing history wherever she goes, helping her teams go as far as possible, while working on getting better every time she takes the field.
