Haiti’s Dumornay keeps writing history in France

The 19-year-old midfielder Melchie Dumornay arrived at the Division 1 Femenine in France to make an impact.
With the help of Melchie Dumornay, a very consistent player who is one of the first names in starting XI ever week, she has demonstrated why she has been in the spotlight since a very young age.

MIAMI – Stats and records are meant to be broken no matter the scenario. Haiti international Melchie Dumornay knows this very well, as she has been making a difference in every side in which she plays, most recently with French team Stade de Reims.

The 19-year-old midfielder arrived at the Division 1 Femenine in France to make an impact, as she has been doing her entire career. Sitting in sixth place in the table, one of the oldest clubs in the French competition is giving everything they have to keep rising up the table. With the help of Dumornay, a very consistent player who is one of the first names in starting XI ever week, she has demonstrated why she has been in the spotlight since a very young age.

A very constant presence of the Haiti Women’s National team, in which she has played 26 games, scoring 26 goals in every category, she has been one of the best young talents the world has seen. She held the title of top scorer of the Concacaf Women’s Under-20 Championship, earning that distinction by scoring 14 goals in 2020.

She scored her first goal at 14 years old and five months at the CWU20 back in 2018, proving that she was a player who would become one of the biggest promises in the region.

Dumornay scored her first goal at 14 years old and five months at the CWU20 back in 2018. 

She also has some silverware, winning the Golden Ball at the 2018 Concacaf Women’s Under-17 Championship, a tournament in which she also was part of the Best XI after her performances helped Haiti claim the fourth position of the Championship.

Exciting times are ahead for her, both with her club and country. Haiti will be facing their biggest challenge yet, as they will face the Playoffs to qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup next year, to be played in Australia/New Zealand, looking to be one of the Concacaf nations that will fight for the biggest trophy in women’s football.

The next tests with Stade de Reims will also be very crucial, as they will play not only in the French league, but also the French Cup, a competition that will demand Dumornay and her team to deliver their very best on the field.
