GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala – All Guatemalan eyes will be on the Estadio Doroteo Guamuch Flores on Wednesday night in Guatemala City, Guatemala as Comunicaciones hosts fellow Guatemalan side Guastatoya in the first leg of the 2019 Scotiabank Concacaf League Round of 16.
Comunicaciones arrives into the encounter fresh off of its dramatic 3-2 aggregate win over Honduran side Marathon when a last-minute goal from Cristian Hernandez earned the Chapines the series win.
Now up next for Los Cremas is a familiar foe in domestic rival Guastatoya.
Not only do these two teams know each other well from Liga Nacional action, but they have faced each other in the Guatemalan playoffs the last two seasons.
Guastatoya defeated Comunicaciones 3-2 on aggregate in the 2018 Guatemalan Clausura Final and then eliminated Comunicaciones again in the quarterfinals of the 2019 Clausura 2-1 on aggregate.
Comunicaciones will be looking to turn the tables, beginning on Wednesday night with a victory.
