MIAMI, Florida – The group stage of the 2023 Concacaf Caribbean Club Shield in Saint Kitts and Nevis concluded on Tuesday with the final matches in Group C and Group D.
Advancing from Group D to the semifinal stage is Trinidad and Tobago side Club Sando, who defeated SV Dakota of Aruba 3-0 at the SKNFA Technical Centre to finish atop the group with a perfect 3W-0D-0L record.
Kevon Williams (12’), Nicholas Dillon (61’) and Isaiah Thompson (82’) scored the goals to send Club Sando to their first Shield semifinal.
The other match in Group D took place at Warner Park where SWA Sharks of Turks and Caicos Islands played to a 1-1 draw with Solidarite Scolaire of Guadeloupe.
Foggea Sael’s early goal in the 4’ gave Solidarite Scolaire a 1-0 lead, but SWA Sharks would battle back for a point thanks to Christopher Louisy’s goal in the 20’.
The deciding match in Group C took place at Warner Park and it was Robinhood of Suriname getting the job done with a 4-2 victory against AS Etoile Matoury of French Guiana.
Jamilhio Rigters (16’, 33’) bagged a brace, while Shaquille Cairo (47’) and Carlos Da Silva (88’) added scores for Robinhood to outweigh the double scored by Etoile Matoury’s Cerezo Haabo (21’, 71’)
Dominican Republic side O&M FC finished their Caribbean Club Shield on a very positive and prolific note with an 8-2 win versus B1 FC of Saint Lucia at the SKNFA Technical Centre.
The star of the day was Daniel Jamesley, who had four goals (10’, 57’, 60’, 76’), while Kensy Guerrero (55’, 63’) had a brace. Also contributing to the final scoreline for O&M were Aricheell Hernandez (21’) and Sergio Paredes (26’). B1 got their two goals from Andrus Remy (79’) and Jordan St. Ange (90’).
Tuesday’s results set the stage for what should be a very exciting semifinal round on Friday, as Robinhood take on Metropolitan of Puerto Rico, while Club Sando meets Martinique’s Golden Lion in the other semifinal.
