The 2021 Concacaf Beach Soccer Championship (CBSC) kicks off today in Alajuela, Costa Rica. 11 Concacaf Member Associations will play for the 2 slots available for the Confederation in the FIFA Beach Soccer World Cup Russia 2021.

In order to ensure the health and safety of all participants, Concacaf has developed robust COVID-19 protocols which all competing teams are following. Players, coaches, traveling staff and match officials are required to have multiple COVID-19 tests prior and during the competition.

As part of the on-arrival tests carried out on all participants, one player and one staff member from the Dominican Republic have tested positive. Both individuals are isolating and following all relevant Concacaf and local public health guidelines. Concacaf is also ensuring they and their Member Association are being provided with the necessary support.

The tournament will begin today and will be played as scheduled (the complete schedule is available here).

In the event of any new positive COVID-19 case(s) during the tournament, Concacaf will publish a COVID-19 update.
