BARNSLEY, England – England’s Stoke City loaned United States international Brek Shea to Championship-side Barnsley for one month on Wednesday.

Hours after an agreement was finalized, the winger started in the Tykes’ 1-1 draw at Birmingham City, playing 75 minutes.

He made his full international debut at 18-years-old against Colombia in a scoreless draw on October 12, 2010 and has accumulated 25 caps.

The 23-year-old, who signed a four-and-a-half-year contract with Stoke City in January 2013 for a fee of £2.5 million from FC Dallas, scored the USA’s only goal in its 1-0 victory over Panama in the 2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup final.

NOTES: Shea made three appearances for the U.S. in World Cup Qualifying for Brazil 2014 … He played in three matches at the 2009 FIFA U-20 World Cup and one at the 2007 FIFA U-17 World Cup.
