OTTAWA, Canada – On Friday, Canadian Premier League side Atletico Ottawa announced the signing of Jamaica international MF Tevin Shaw.
“He is a very skilled defensive midfielder that will bring to the team a wide range of possibilities,” said Atletico Ottawa CEO Fernando Lopez in an official statement via the club website.
“He is able to high pressure opponents, make smart tackles, recover balls and move the team sideline to sideline with quality and precise crossings,” added Lopez.
Shaw joins Atletico Ottawa from Jamaican club Portmore United where he made 21 appearances during the 2019-20 domestic season and was part of the Caribbean club’s effort in the 2020 Scotiabank Concacaf Champions League against Cruz Azul, starting and playing in the team’s 4-0 second leg defeat in Mexico City.
Shaw also boasts six appearances with the Jamaican National Team, all coming in 2018 in friendlies.
“Becoming a part of the Atlético family is something I’m very excited about,” said Shaw via the Atletico Ottawa website. “Becoming a part of the Canadian Premier League and getting an opportunity to play in front of the fans in Ottawa and the rest of Canada is something I am looking forward to.”
