Bryan Ruiz is bidding to become the first player to repeat as the CONCACAF Male Player of the Year. Last year, after two straight runner-up finishes, he finally earned the Confederation’s highest honor for a footballer. In 2017, the 32-year-old played in eight CONCACAF Hexagonal matches (1 goal) to help Costa Rica qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The Sporting Lisbon attacker also appeared in five games during the Ticos’ run to the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup semifinals.
