GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – A trio of national teams from the Cayman Islands departed the country Friday for international engagements ahead of upcoming competitions.
The men’s national team, which is preparing to meet Belize in the first round of CONCACAF qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, journeyed to neighboring Jamaica. It is slated face Jamaican Red Stripe Premier League side Montego Bay United and the Jamaica under-23 national team on Friday and Sunday, respectively.
Guadeloupe is the destination for the women’s and under-15 boys national teams, which will also contest a series of matches over the weekend. The women, who will square off against the USA’s University of New Haven later in the month, were invited to participate in Women’s Day celebrations.
The under-15s, host of the CONCACAF Under-15 Boys’ Championship in August, will test themselves against their Guadeloupean counterparts.
