THE KICKS
MEXICO
“POR LOS QUE NUNCA SE RINDIERON…” a Spanish phrase evoked as a testament to Mexico’s never give up attitude. This boot design is deeply rooted in cultural heritage and historical identity, honoring those who persist regardless of the challenges. It draws inspiration from pre-Columbian symbolism to evoke a connection to time, memory, and legacy. The national emblem's Golden Eagle is reinterpreted as a symbol of overcoming struggle, transformation, and continuity, layered with textures and patterns built over generations.
HEARTBEAT
The Mexico cleats are part of the a multidisciplinary art project collaboration, "HEARTBEAT" in collaboration with Lili Cantero, which explores football as a shared emotional language. Through hand-painted soccer cleats and a central canvas, the project brings together identity, culture, and human connection across three nations: Canada, the United States, and Mexico.
Each pair of cleats represents a distinct narrative. While they are individually crafted objects, their visual language extends beyond the object itself, culminating in a central artwork that anchors the "HEARTBEAT" exhibition.
