THE KICKS OF CONCACAF

IVAN ROQUE

Born in December of 1991, Ivan J. Roque is a Cuban-American artist and award-winning muralist from Miami, Florida, whose influences range from Old and New Masters like Caravaggio and Mark Rothko to design icons like Alexander McQueen, Gianni Versace, and Nychos.

Roque has achieved significant milestones throughout his career, including collaborating with rapper Denzel Curry and major global brands such as McDonald’s, Microsoft, Virgin Voyages, and Formula One. His work has taken him around the world, creating murals and exhibiting in major cultural hubs like New York City, Dubai, and Seoul, as well as participating in prominent street art festivals like SpraySeeMO and POW! WOW! Worcester.

Frequently commissioned by municipalities across the United States, his most recent public projects include installations for the City of Plantation, Florida, and the City of Richmond, Indiana. Beyond the streets, Roque has headlined three solo gallery exhibitions and a solo museum show at the Coral Springs Museum of Art. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts from Florida International University and was honored as a recipient of a 2024 National Mural Award.

ANTIGUA & BARBUDA

Drawing inspiration from the national bird, the Frigatebird, and the national flower, the Dagger Log (Agave karatto), this piece beautifully reflects harmony and resilience. The vine elements move with intention, symbolizing continuity, growth, and interconnectedness. Through these natural forms, the design speaks to a culture shaped by strength, adaptability, and shared experience.

BARBADOS

This boot's aesthetic is rooted in Barbados’ culture, bringing in the symbols of the country and its citizens. The national bird, the Brown Pelican, and the national flower, the Pride of Barbados, are reimagined on this boot. Flowing vines weave through the composition as a symbol of legacy and connection, binding past and present. Natural elements reflect a vibrant, grounded, and proud people.

BONAIRE

This boot art is inspired by the island's national bird, the Flamingo, and its national flower, the Bougainvillea. The lush and tropical flora and fauna of Bonaire is captured by the artistic expressions of raw beauty and vivid color. Flowing vines echo the natural rhythms of land and sea; and symbolize harmony, continuity, and a community deeply in tune with its natural surroundings.

CUBA

This boot art inspires from Cuba's national bird, the Cuban Trogon (Tocororo), and the White Ginger Lily (Mariposa), serving as living symbols of resilience and pride. The design concept intertwines these natural elements with flowing vines and flora to represent deep-rooted connections between history, nature, culture, and community, reflecting a people where beauty and perseverance coexist.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

A lively and energetic people and culture are the inspiration behind this boot art. The design draws from the national bird, the Palmchat (Cigua Palmera), and the national flower, the Bayahíbe Rose (Pereskia Quisqueyana). The vines intertwine dynamically, representing unity, growth, and the pulse of the people. Nature becomes an extension of identity—bold, expressive, and alive.

GUYANA

The Hoatzin (Canje Pheasant) and the Victoria Amazonica (Giant Water Lily), Guyana's national bird and flower, are focal points of this boot. The elements reflect the vastness and richness of the landscape. Stretching and connecting vines symbolize unity across diversity and a deep-rooted sense of place. Nature speaks to the strength and uniquenes of the Guyanese people.

MONTSERRAT

This boot was designed with inspiration from the national bird, the Montserrat Oriole, and the national flower, the Heliconia (Heliconia caribaea). These cleats capture the quiet strength and the layered identities of Montserrat's people and history. The forms and shapes are intertwined through organic vines to symbolize renewal, connection, and cultural endurance. Effectively using nature as the voice for resilience and belonging.

SAINT MARTIN

This boot artwork captures the unique identity of Saint Martin through its national bird, the Brown Pelican, and the national flower, the Flamboyant (Delonix Regia). It employs flowing vines as a unifying visual force, representing connection and togetherness across cultures and shared space. Through natural elements, the piece reflects a community defined by coexistence and vibrancy.

ST. KITTS & NEVIS

This boot inspires from the national bird, the Brown Pelican, and the national flower, the Poinciana (Delonix Regia). The design reflects unity, focus and character. The vines weave between elements to symbolize the historical connection between the islands, their heritages and people. It is beautiful artifact representative of the range of people and nature that emboldens the islands’ love of football.

ST. VINCENT & THE GRENADINES

This boot features depictions of the national bird, the St. Vincent Parrot (Amazona Guildingii), and the national flower, the Soufrière Tree (Spachea Perforata). The concept fluidly weaves vines throughout the layout, which  symbolizes movement and connection across land and sea. The elements reflect St. Vincent and the Grenadines' vibrant, resilient, and deeply interconnected culture.

TRINIDAD & TOBAGO

This concept channels the energy and duality of the twin islands through its national birds, the Scarlet Ibis and the Cocrico, and its national flower, the Chaconia (Warszewiczia coccinea). Movement flows through the composition, with vines weaving rhythmically to reflect unity, celebration, and vibrance. The elements embody the spirit of the people: bold, expressive, and deeply rooted.
