Guatemala takes over Central American clash in League A

Suriname and Honduras also secured crucial wins in Group B.

MIAMI – League A Groups Stage action of the 2026/2027 Concacaf Nations League continued on Monday with Suriname, Jamaica and Guatemala taking wins in Group B.

Suriname 2, Martinique 1

Suriname secured their second win in Group B after a 2-1 score against Martinique at Dr. Ir. Franklin Essed Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.

After a goalless first half, the hosts managed to break Martinique’s deadlock in the 54’ thanks to a right foot banger from outside the box by Justin Lonwijk. Gyrano Kerk was ready to get past the visitor’s defence in the area to double Suriname’s lead in the 69’.

Martinique pulled one back in the last minutes of the match, in the 81’, when Boris Moltenis capitalized a ball from a corner kick with a header.

Jamaica 0, Honduras 1

Honduras sealed their first win in the 2026/2027 Group Stage with a 1-nil win against Jamaica at National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.

The only goal of the match came early on in the first half after Keyrol Figueroa was ready in the area to send the ball past Jamaica defense and find the back of the net to score the winning goal for Honduras.

Honduras earned its first-ever away win against Jamaica, ending an 11-match winless run in the all-time series in Jamaica.

Guatemala 6, El Salvador 0

Guatemala closed Group B Monday’s action with a 6-nil win against El Salvador at Estadio Manuel Felipe Carrera in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Guatemala started their goal galore performance in the 8’ when Darwin Lom found the back of the net. Rubio Rubín doubled the Chapines advantage in the 28’ with a right foot shot in the box.

William Fajardo stepped up to be the star of the day for Guatemala, scoring a hat-trick, netting his first goal, and the third one for his team in the 32’. Jorge Aparicio got on the score sheet in the 56’ with a right foot banger in the box to score the fourth goal for the Central Americans.

Fajardo secured his brace and the fifth goal for Guatemala in the 89’. He kept his tally going until the last minutes of the match, securing the sixth and final goal, alongside his third one of the night, in the 90+2’ with a right foot shot from the right side of the area.
