Burke Brace Sends Portmore United to Semifinals

Portmore United climbs to second place in Group B to advance to Knockout Stage.

SANTIAGO DE LOS CABALLEROS – The 2026 Concacaf Caribbean Cup continued on Thursday with Portmore United FC earning a 2-1 win against Cibao FC in Group B at Estadio Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic.

Portmore United took the lead in the 31’ through a towering header from Cory Burke to capitalize on a precise delivery into the box from the right flank.

Burke tucked in the ball from close range in the 69’ to seal his brace in the match and double the lead for the Jamaican side.

Cibao FC shortened the deficit in the 90’, when Jean Carlos López converted a penalty.

With the result, Portmore United climbed up to second place to advance to the Knockout Stage, and will now face Violette AC in the Semifinals.

Cibao FC closed out its campaign, placing fourth in Group B with five points and a 1W-2D-1L record.
