TIJUANA, Mexico -- Club Tijuana announced Thursday the appointment of Diego Cocca as head coach.
The 45-year-old Argentine will lead Xolos in the 2018 Liga MX Clausura and the 2018 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League.
Cocca began his career as a head coach in 2007 with Argentinean Primera B side CAI, going on to make his first division debut with Club Godoy Cruz (2008-2009). He continued with Gimnasia y Esgrima de la Plata (2009-2010) and then secured his first position in Mexico with Santos Laguna in 2011.
After coaching at Santos, he returned to Argentina to coach Huracan in the Nacional B, before moving to over Club Defensa y Justicia and leading it in 2012 to the first division for the first time in club history.
The following year, Cocca then went on to coach Racing Club, winning first division title in 2014.
He also coached at Millonarios in Colombia, only to return to Racing Club in 2017.
As player, Cocca competed with numerous clubs including River Plate, Deportivo Español, Ferrro Carril Oesta, Argentinos Juniors and Banfield (all Argentina); UE Lleida (Spain); as well as Atlas, Veracruz and Queretaro (all Mexico).
