FRANKFURT, Germany – Eintracht Frankfurt acquired Tuesday Mexico international Carlos Salcedo on a one-year loan – with an option to purchase – from Mexico’s Guadalajara.

The 23-year-old defender spent most of the 2016/17 season on loan with Italy’s Fiorentina (18 games/0 goals), after playing in three games for Chivas in the 2016 Liga MX Apertura.

"I am very excited about the Bundesliga and my new team in Frankfurt,” said Salcedo. “It is a great step for me to be able to play in Germany. I am very happy.”

Salcedo joined Guadalajara from the USA’s Real Salt Lake (25 games/1 goal from 2013-14) in January 2015, going on to make 49 appearances in Liga MX and being part of the side that won 2015 Copa MX Apertura and 2016 MX Supercopa titles.

On April 15, 2015, Salcedo earned the first of his 11 caps for Mexico in a 2-0 loss at the United States. He also saw action in one match at the 2015 Copa America and netted once in three games at the 2016 Men’s Olympic Football Tournament.
