GRANADA, Spain – Goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa is on the move, but will remain in Spain, as La Liga side Granada announced Friday that it acquired the Mexico international on a one-year loan from Malaga.
The 31-year-old began his career at Mexican power Club America, debuting during the 2004 Clausura and going on to play 342 matches. With the Aguilas, he won the 2005 Clausura and 2006 CONCACAF Champions Cup titles.
In July 2011, Ochoa signed with AC Ajaccio of Ligue 1 in France, where he competed in more than 100 games.
After appearing in each of Mexico’s four outings in the 2014 FIFA World Cup – the only World Cup in which he has played (on roster for 2006 and 2010 editions) – Ochoa signed a three-year deal with Malaga. Although he didn’t seen any minutes during the 2014/15 campaign, Ochoa took part in 11 games last season.
In addition to his 2014 World Cup success with the Tricolor, Ochoa was also a member of three CONCACAF Gold Cup winning squads (2009, 2011, 2015). Most recently, he played in two Copa America Centenario contests.
