ENSCHEDE, Netherlands – FC Twente announced Monday that it has transferred Mexico international Jesus Corona to Porto.
The 22-year-old winger signed a five-year contact with the Portuguese power, which already has Tricolor teammate Hector Herrera on the books.
“I am a player who gives his all, dares and works to get better,” the 14-time capped Corona said on Porto’s television station. “The only promise is that I am going to give everything both on and off the field.”
Corona joined Twente from Liga MX’s Monterrey in August 2013, appearing in 46 Dutch league matches and scoring 11 goals.
While with Monterrey, he won three Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League titles and a Mexican league crown. In 2012, Corona netted twice for the Rayados in three FIFA Club World Cup matches.
He debuted for Mexico last year, staking a claim for a more influential role in the team following impressive performances in this year’s Copa America and title-winning run at the CONCACAF Gold Cup. In the final against Jamaica, Corona struck for the Mexicans second goal en route to a 3-1 win.
