CUERNAVACA, Mexico – The Federación Mexicana de Fútbol Asociación announced Monday that midfielder Andres Guardado will miss World Cup qualifiers against Costa Rica (March 24, home) and Trinidad & Tobago (March 28, away).
The 30-year-old, who plays with PSV Eindhoven in the Netherlands, was examined by the national team’s medical staff and it was determined that he sustained a right-leg injury.
He will remain with the squad to begin his rehabilitation.
Guardado – the 2016 CONCACAF Gold Cup’s Gold Ball winner – has two goals in seven games for Mexico during qualifying for the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
