CIUDAD VICTORIA, Mexico – Correcaminos signed Honduras international Johnny Leveron from Marathon, the Liga Ascenso MX side announced Tuesday.

The 25-year-old defender had returned to his native country in January after the option on his contract was not picked up by the Vancouver Whitecaps after the 2014 Major League Soccer season.

Leveron has appeared in FIFA competitions at all age levels: U-17 World Cup (2007), U-20 World Cup (2009) and the Olympic Football Tournament (2012) and World Cup Qualifying (2012).

Despite his relative youth, Leveron has already won a Honduran league title (2011 Clausura, Motagua) and a Central American Cup crown (2011) with Honduras.  At Motagua, he played in two editions of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League (2010-11 & 2011-12), appearing in nine total games.

The 25-time capped Leveron has competed in the 2011 CONCACAF Gold Cup and the 2014 Central American Cup.  He was called up for Honduras’ upcoming friendlies on the road against Venezuela (September 4) and Ecuador (September 8).

Correcaminos, which occupies 15th place in the 16-team Ascenso MX, has conceded a league-high 17 goals in six outings.
