ALAJUELA, Costa Rica – Costa Rican side Alajuelense continued restructuring its roster under new head coach Javier Delgado, announcing Friday the addition of Honduras international Jorge Claros.
The 30-year-old midfielder, who played for China’s Qingdao Jonoon last year, signed a one-year contract.
With Honduras, Claros has competed in the FIFA World Cup (2014), three CONCACAF Gold Cups (2007, 2013, 2015), the Olympic Football Tournament (2008) and the FIFA U-20 World Cup (2005).
In addition to Qingdao Jonoon, his club career has taken to him Vida and Motagua (both Honduras), Hibernian (Scotland) and Sporting Kansas City (USA).
After a 2015 Invierno season that saw it finish first in the regular season -- only to fall Saprissa in the two-legged final (agg: 4-1) -- Alajuelense has also signed Jossimar Pemberton, Diego Diaz, Diego Madrigal and Panama international Harold Cummings. The Manudos have not won the Costa Rican title since prevailing over Herediano in the 2013 Invierno final.
