MIAMI, Florida – League A of the Road to W Gold Cup continues on Thursday with a massive encounter to open Group C between 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup sides Haiti and Costa Rica at the Estadio Olimpico Felix Sanchez in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
While neither side were able to advance from their respective group at Australia/New Zealand 2023, they certainly exhibited some of the quality that brought them to that point, and no doubt the talent and skill of both teams will be on display on Thursday.
Melissa Herrera tallied the lone goal for the Ticas in the Women’s World Cup and will be called upon again for an attacking spark.
Goal machine Raquel Rodriguez is another player who the Haitian defense will have to be wary of throughout the game.
On the other side, Melchie Dumornay continues to improve each game. The 20-year-old dazzled Down Under and is already making an impact at her new club, French giants Lyon.
Dumornay will also get plenty of help from prolific goal scorers like Nerilia Mondesir and Roselord Borgella.
The race to finish first in the group and clinch a berth in the 2024 W Gold Cup figures to go down to the wire, making this opening match crucial for both teams.
