MIAMI. - The Dominican Republic defeated Bermuda to decide first place in Group C of League B, as the Road to W Gold Cup tournament reached its conclusion on Tuesday.

The top two teams in Group C faced off in a direct matchup to decide the playoff berth on the final matchday. Earlier in the day, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines earned its first victory of the campaign against Barbados.

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines vs. Barbados

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines won 4-2 against Barbados at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

Ashante Browne scored the first goal for the Lady Heat in the 12' by pushing in a pass over the top past the goalkeeper Rhea Holder.

Shanice Stevenson equalized in the 74' by pouncing on a loose ball inside the box with a curling effort into the left netting.

Samayaa Connell retook the lead for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in the 82' by rounding the defense inside the penalty area.

Jessicia Miller extended the advantage for the Lady Heat in the 84' by connecting with a free kick service from Asanteni Charles.

Charles widened the gap with a goal of her own in the 89’ by converting from the penalty spot. 

Barbados earned a second late after Altica Benn had an attempted save turn into an own goal in the 90'+3. Tiana Bynoe caused the danger from a free kick service.

 

Dominican Republic vs. Bermuda

The Dominican Republic defeated Bermuda 2-0 at the Panamericano Stadium in San Cristobal, Dominican Republic.

Alyssa Oviedo broke free for the opening goal in the 17’, driving into the box and providing a powerful shot to bounce it off the left post for the lead.

Kathrynn Gonzalez had shot on frame in the 30’ but her free kick attempt was denied by Bermuda goalkeeper Zakhari Turner.

Lucia Marte was denied in the 44’ after picking up the ball off a missed header, driving into the box with a powerful attempt that was punched out Turner.

Mia Asenjo was denied in the 47’ as Turner was alert for the save early in the second half. But Asenjo broke through in the 86’ with a powerful hit to the left netting to secure the three points.
