SAN JOSE Costa Rica rebounded from their opening defeat to Haiti in Group C of League A of the Road to W Gold Cup with a commanding 11-0 victory against Saint Kitts and Nevis on Monday night at the Estadio Nacional in San Jose, Costa Rica.

Costa Rica wasted no time getting on the scoreboard with Maria Elizondo making it 1-0 in the 4’ on a free kick. The lead doubled to 2-0 in the 9’ through Melissa Herrera, who received a pass, rounded Saint Kitts and Nevis GK Kyra Dickinson and finished into net.

Dickinson would produce the best save of the night in the 22’ when she saved Raquel Rodriguez’s penalty, but Rodriguez followed up her miss and scored to make it 3-0.

It was 4-0 in the 24’ after Alexandra Pinell curled in a right-footed shot into the top right cornet of net. One minute later the scoreboard read 5-0 when Priscila Chinchilla received and pass from Herrera and finished for the goal.

Chinchilla was back at it in the 41’ on a right-footed finish inside the area for a 6-0 advantage and then Gloriana Villalobos etched her name on the scoresheet in the 43’ with a curling right-footed shot herself for a 7-0 halftime lead.

Rodriguez got her second of the night in the 58’ at the penalty spot with a conversion, stretching the lead to 8-0, before Chinchilla completed her hat trick in the 67’ by polishing off a give-and-go to make it 9-0.

Herrera made it two goals in seven minutes for a hat trick of her own to extend it to 11-0 by steering home a shot in the 73’ and then firing in from inside the area in the 80’ to complete the scoring for the hosts.
