MIAMI – The 2025 Concacaf W Futsal Championship continued Wednesday with the second day of the Group Stage at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Mexico and Panama earned consecutive victories to secure the top two spots in Group A and a place in the semifinals. The United States and Costa Rica drew in a battle of top teams in Group B, setting up a dramatic final matchday in the group stage as Canada follows one point behind both.

The top two teams in each group will advance to the semifinals. The two finalists will represent Concacaf at the inaugural FIFA Futsal Women's World Cup.

Group A 

Mexico 4, Cuba 1

Mexico won 4-1 against Cuba to earn back-to-back wins in Group A and qualify to the W Futsal Championship semifinals.

The Caribbeans struck first with a great collective play, in the 3’, that Nahomi Aguilar finished with a right-footed shot.

Mexico tied the match in the 24’ thanks to a close range shot from Xanic Benítez. The Mexicans gained the lead in the 36’ with a right-footed shot from Itzel Cruz. El Tricolor added to its tally in the 38’ by way of Paulina Cruz. The fourth Mexican goal arrived in the 39’ from a right-footed effort by Rosa Aguiar.

Panama 4, Guatemala 3

Panama earned consecutive wins in Group A, winning 4-3 against hosts Guatemala to qualify for the W Futsal Championship semifinals.

Gloria Saenz gave Las Canaleras the first goal of the night in the 2’. Kenia Rangel doubled Panama’s lead in the 5’, scoring her third goal in two games.

Grecia Santizo pulled one goal back for Guatemala in the 30’ with a left-footed banger. Katherine Garzaro scored the second for La Bicolor in the 31’. 

Panama restored its one-goal lead in the 34’ thanks to Ariadna Abadia. Gloria Saenz got the fourth goal for Panama in the 37’, in what would end up being the deciding goal. 

Guatemala’s third arrived in the 37’ from Andrea Chajon but the comeback effort would not be completed for the hosts before time expired. 

Group B 

Canada 6, Honduras 0 

Canada secured its first win in Group B with a 6-nil win against Honduras.

Esther Brossard got the opening goal in the 1’ with a right-footed shot in the area. Stephie-Ann Dadaille doubled the lead in the 5’ before Cynthia Gaspar-Freire added the third for The Canucks in the 18’. 

Brossard collected her brace in the 21’ to extend Canada’s lead. Joëlle Gosselin added the fifth in the 23’, before Gaspar-Freire scored again in the 34’.

United States 2, Costa Rica 2

The United States and Costa Rica drew 2-2 in a meeting of the top teams in Group B, staying put as first and second respectively.

A left-footed long shot in the 6’ by Sarah Martin gave the United States the early lead. A connection between Jeanette Fieldsend and Martin allowed the latter to collect her brace in the 24’.

Costa Rica pulled one back, getting their reward in the 32’ through a left shot by Yerlin Varela. Las Ticas didn’t back down, getting the equalizing in the last seconds of the match, in the 40’, thanks to Tatiana Cascante.
