BRENTFORD, England – The 2026 FIFA Women’s Champions Cup got underway, kicking off the inaugural edition of the tournament, as Gotham FC fell 1-nil to SC Corinthians in the Semifinals on Wednesday at the Brentford Stadium in Brentford, England. 

The meeting pit the reigning Concacaf Champions Cup winners against the CONMEBOL Copa Libertadores Femenina holders.  

U.S. women’s national team players Jaedyn Shaw and Rose Lavelle featured for the U.S. side in the starting eleven, but were denied by the Brazilian defensive line. 

Katie Stengel nearly broke the deadlock for Gotham FC in the 53’, finding a space in the box as she looked to send the ball past Corinthians’ goalkeeper Leticia with a right-footed shot, but the attempt was wide off the post.

Corinthians captain Gabi Zanotti found the net for the Brazilian club in the 83’, with a left-footed shot from the top of the box, securing the only goal of the match and a place in the Final.

Gotham FC will meet the losing team from the Arsenal–ASFAR Semifinal in the Play-off for third place match on Sunday at Arsenal Stadium in London, England.
