COUVA, Trinidad & Tobago – Mexico defender Miriam Garcia was named winner of the 2018 CONCACAF Under-20 Women’s Championship Golden Ball presented by Scotiabank as the tournament’s most outstanding player. The announcement was made Sunday after the Tricolor prevailed over the United States in the final, 4-2 on penalty kicks, after a 1-1 draw in the final.

The 19-year-old played every minute of Mexico’s five games (570 minutes in total), anchoring a defense that conceded only four goals.

Garcia plays her club football for 2017 Liga MX Femenil Apertura champion Guadalajara.
