GEORGE TOWN, Cayman Islands – Katelyn Rowland of the United States was recognized as the best goalkeeper at the 2014 CONCACAF Women’s Under-20 Championship after being named the Golden Glove winner by the Technical Study Group on Sunday evening.
Though it could be difficult to stand out in a team that scored a tournament-best 29 times, Rowland earned all the accolades that came her way. She did not allow a goal in 360 minutes of play, a feat unmatched by any other goalkeeper in the competition.
The CONCACAF crown was Rowland’s second title in a little more than a month. The 19-year-old was in goal, when UCLA defeated Florida State 1-0 to win the NCAA Division One championship on December 8, 2013.
