MANZANILLO, Mexico – Under the direction of head coach Sergio Almaguer, Mexico opened Sunday its final training camp in preparation for the 2015 CONCACAF Under-20 Championship, which will be held January 9-24 in Jamaica.
The squad is scheduled to remain in Manzanillo through December 13, before traveling to Guadalajara for a friendly against Atlas a day later. After that match, all activities will be moved to the Mexican Football Federation’s High Performance Center.
Goalkeeper Raul Gudiño, who was loaned by Guadalajara to Portugal’s Porto in August and finished runner-up in 2013 to the USA’s Tim Howard for the CONCACAF Goalkeeper of the Year award as a 17-year-old, will link up with the team on December 14.
Mexico will launch its bid to qualify for the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup against Cuba on January 10 in Montego Bay.
