The CONCACAF champion completed first-stage play in Group F behind table-topping England (3-0-0, 9) and Iraq (2-0-1, 6), advancing as one of the best third-place finishers.
In a match marked by enterprise and effort, Mexico couldn’t capitalize on its major advantages in possession (69%-31%) and shots (25-8). Chile goalkeeper Julio Borquez was in great form, making eight saves.
Next Up: Mexico will face Group C winner Iran (3-0-0, 9) in the Round of 16 on October 17 in Goa, India.
