BRADENTON, Florida – The 2019 Concacaf Under-17 Championship rolled on with Mexico, Honduras, Trinidad and Tobago and Haiti all posting big wins in Friday’s action
Mexico vs. Bermuda, Group E
A balanced effort saw Mexico power past Bermuda 5-0 to claim its second win in Group E.
Efrain Alvarez (10’) and Luis Martinez Armas (16’) gave El Tricolor a comfortable lead at halftime, before Santiago Munoz (56’), Israel Luna (82’) and Kevin Mariscal (87’) added another trio of goals to cap the decisive win.
Jamaica vs. Trinidad and Tobago, Group E
Trinidad and Tobago overcame an early Jamaica goal to top the Reggae Boyz 3-2 to remain unbeaten in Group E.
Cristojaye Daley had Jamaica up 1-0 in the 17’, but the Soca Warriors responded with three unanswered goals with a pair from Jaiye Sheppard (34’, 60’) sandwiching a Justin Araujo-Wilson (44’) score.
Jamaica did not throw in the towel though and made it a one-goal affair when Isaac Scott scored in the third minute of second half stoppage time, but the Trinidad and Tobago defense would hang on to secure the three points.
Guyana vs. Honduras, Group G
Honduras picked up its first victory of the CU17 with a solid 3-0 victory over Guyana. Jeffry Miranda got the Catrachos going with a goal in the 14’, but it was a three-minute span in the second half that sealed things for Honduras.
In the 64’, Miguel Carrasco doubled the lead and then minutes later in the 67’ Miranda found the back of the net a second time to polish off the Golden Jaguars.
Haiti vs. El Salvador, Group G
Haiti continued its impressive CU17 with a commanding 4-1 win over El Salvador to remain the lone unbeaten team in Group G.
Fredler Christophe had Haiti up at the break thanks to his goal in the 39’. Haiti was keen for more and added another two goals in the 70’ and 72’ through Dany Jean and Maudwindo Germain, respectively.
Yet, there was no quit from the Cuscatlecos, and thoughts of a comeback were stirred when Saul Emerson pulled one back in the 78’ to make it 3-1, only for Haiti’s Michel Pierre to settle matters with a game’s final goal in the 87’.
