COUVA, Trinidad & Tobago – Jamaica and Haiti took the early advantage in Group A at the final round of Caribbean qualifying for the 2017 CONCACAF Under-17  Championship on Friday, posting wins over Bermuda and host Trinidad & Tobago, respectively at Ato Boldon Stadium.

The Jamaicans struck for 16 goals in three first-round games and showed no signs of slowing down against the Bermudians, Kaheem Parris struck for a brace in a 6-2 victory. Parris set-up Raewin Senior for a left-footed finish in the fifth minute, before making it 2-0 by converting from the penalty spot in 17th minute after was fouled in the box.

Rahzir Jones halved the deficit in the 30th minute for Bermuda, which then conceded a trio of unanswered goals. Jamoi Torpey assisted on Kendall Edwards’ effort in the 36th minute, while Jeremy Verley set-up Nicque Daley six minutes later.

The lead was extended to 5-1 in the 72nd minute, when Parris found the back of the net from 23-yards out off a direct free kick.

Tokia Russell pulled a goal back for Bermuda in 81st minute, but his own-goal in the first minute of stoppage time completed the scoreline.

In the evening’s second game, Haiti scored a goal in each half to top Trinidad & Tobago, 2-0.

Nael Wellofky Elysee netted the first goal in the 22nd minute, picking up a loose clearance at the top of the box and drilling a low, right-footed shot into the left corner.

In the 67th minutes, Steeve Selso Saint-Duc beat goalkeeper Emmanuel John.on a breakaway for an insurance tally.

Group B begins Saturday at Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain with Suriname-Guadeloupe and Cuba-Curacao encounters.

The competition, which runs through September 25, will qualify the top five finishers to the CONCACAF event scheduled to be played in Panama, April 21 to May 7, 2017. The field will also include the host nation, Canada, Mexico, the United States and three Central American sides.
