PARAMARIBO, Suriname – Suriname picked up a 6-0 win over Nicaragua in Concacaf Nations League Group D of League B on Sunday afternoon at the André Kamperveen Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.
After scoring a brace in Suriname’s CNL opening match, 19-year-old forward Gleofilo Vlijter would add another four to his goal tally in this encounter.
Vlijter’s first goal came in the ninth minute, a self-pass off his heel and into the box that he would then deliver diagonally across goal.
He would complete his second consecutive brace in the 11th minute after a Brian Elshot assist, leaving Vlijter to shoot from distance for the 2-0 lead.
Ivenzo Comvalius would send a service into the box for Donnegy Fer to strike across goal, placing Suriname up by three in the 13th minute of the match.
Elshot would then strike on goal with too much power for Nicaragua goalkeeper Henry Maradiaga to hold onto the ball, allowing Vlijter to pounce and collect a hat-trick in the 30th minute.
Vlijter would pick up his fourth of the night in the 65th minute to increase the home side’s lead by five.
Comvalius joined the scoresheet with a chip shot in the 85th minute to the delight of the home fans – sending Suriname to the top of the group standings.
