MIAMI, Florida – Both the United States and Mexico will be in action this weekend as part of their preparation for next week’s Concacaf Nations League Finals in Denver, Colorado.

On Saturday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Mexico will take on Iceland in what will be the final friendly match for El Tricolor prior to their CNLF semifinal against Costa Rica on Thursday, June 3.

Head Coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino will have a full squad at his disposal and will try to improve on the 5W-1D-1L record they have posted since the resumption of international football last fall.

Among the key players to watch for will be Napoli FW Hirving Lozano, who provided the winning score in Mexico’s last outing, a 1-0 win over Costa Rica in a friendly played in March in Austria.

There is a bit of history between these two nations, with four meetings in total dating back to 2003, all coming in international friendlies. Mexico has a 2W-2D-0L record against the European outfit.

Also in action this weekend is the United States, who will take the field on Sunday against Swizterland at Kybun Park in St. Gallen, Switzerland.

It will serve as the final preparation match for the U.S. ahead of their CNLF semifinal against Honduras on Thursday.

U.S. Head Coach Gregg Berhalter will be missing two of his key players, FW Christian Pulisic and GK Zack Steffen due to their participation in the UEFA Champions League Final on Saturday in Porto, Portugal with Chelsea and Manchester City, respectively.

Nevertheless, it is still a talented U.S. squad that boasts such young attacking talents like Giovanni Reyna of Borussia Dortmund and Josh Sargent of Werder Bremen.

In all-time meetings with the Swiss, the U.S. have a 1W-4D-3L, including a memorable 1-1 draw in Detroit, Michigan in the group stage of the 1994 FIFA World Cup.
