LES ABYMES. - Antigua and Barbuda topped Guadeloupe 1-0 in a tight contest in Concacaf Nations League League B Group A at the Stade Rene Serge Nabajoth on Thursday night.

Antigua and Barbuda MF Ashley Nathaniel-George made the difference, slipping into the box in the 57th minute and scoring an individual goal.

It is the second win for Antigua and Barbuda over Guadeloupe in this current edition of the CNL.

Despite falling, the home team will feel it played well enough to earn a point or more had another goalkeeper, but Antigua and Barbuda GK Nicholas Townsend been defending the net.

Les Gwada Boys outshot their guests 21-5 and forced Townsend into a number of incredible saves. They also kept 60 percent of the possession and completed 243 passes compared to 100 from Antigua and Barbuda.

Try as they might, Guadeloupe couldn’t create anything to beat the keeper, who plays his club football at Newport County of Wales.

The result leaves both Guadeloupe and Antigua and Barbuda on nine points, looking up at Cuba in first place with 12 points.

Guadeloupe now heads to Cuba looking for a win Sunday, while Antigua and Barbuda will be rooting for the opposite result, which would allow it to secure a Gold Cup Prelims place if it is able to beat Barbados at home.
