PARAMARIBO, Suriname – Suriname faces off against Saint Vincent and the Grenadines with top spot of Group D of League B on the line in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League at the Andre Kamperveen Stadion in Paramaribo, Suriname.
The two nations last met on Friday, a 2-2 draw with two-goal outings from Saint Vincent and the Grenadines forward Cornelius Stewart and Suriname forward Gleofilo Vlijter.
Suriname jumped to a two-goal lead in that match and were minutes away from leaving with the full three points. A conceded penalty kick attempt in second half stoppage time changed the story and Stewart converted to salvage a point for the hosts.
Both nations have yet to taste defeat in CNL action and doing so on Monday could drop either out of the top two, depending on the result of Dominica versus Nicaragua.
Suriname’s Vlijter is the top scorer in CNL with eight goals. He has scored at least two goals in three consecutive matches.
This will be the ninth overall meeting between the two sides and the fifth time they do so in the South American country.
Saint Vincent and the Grenadines leads the series with three wins to Suriname’s two. Each side has one win apiece when playing in Suriname.
