WILLEMSTAD, Curaçao -- Sint Maarten and Turks and Caicos Islands will meet for the first time in history on Thursday in a Group D showdown in League C.

Both sides suffered defeats to Guadeloupe in September and are looking to bounce back into contention with a victory in their second matches.

And though neither really got going against Les Gwada Boys, these two teams are both packing serious firepower up front.

Sint Maarten’s Gerwin Lake has three goals in just two appearances with the national team; a free kick against Guadeloupe and two clean strikes against Saint Martin back in qualifying.

Turks and Caicos Islands sport the duo of Billy Forbes and Marc Fenelus, two accomplished goal scorers at both the club and international levels who are itching to get off the mark in this tournament.

Both teams know a draw is not enough here; if they want to catch Guadeloupe and enter the hunt for a 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup spot, a win on Thursday is almost a requirement.

With so many dynamic players on the field and a need for three points on both sides, the game promises to be full of excitement and drama.
