GUATEMALA CITY, Guatemala — There is no question that Guatemala have been the powerhouse of the Concacaf Nations League C so far, with a perfect three wins from three matches, 20 goals scored, and zero conceded in Group C.

But Puerto Rico are fresh off a win of their own, and carry some momentum into the most difficult fixture on the schedule. With a victory against Los Chapines, the islanders would technically remain alive for promotion and they’re ready to fight to stay alive.

In that win, a 3-2 victory against Anguilla, 20-year-old Gerald Diaz scored what turned out to be the winner in what was his first ever international goal.

Guatemala boasts a legion of stars, including Danilo Guerra who has a League C-leading six goals and midfield maestro Marvin Ceballos, who has four goals of his own.

They defeated Puerto Rico 5-0 the first time around, and they won their only home match of the competition thus far 10-0 over Anguilla, the largest margin of victory in the history of the national team.

Guatemala need only a draw to officially clinch promotion and a spot in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup qualifiers next March, a huge first step towards returning to Concacaf’s biggest stage for the first time since 2015.
