ST. GEORGE’S, Grenada – Grenada can take a big step toward promotion to League A in the 2019-20 Concacaf Nations League when they host French Guiana on Sunday night at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium in St. George’s, Grenada.
At present, Grenada sit atop Group A in League B with seven points following Thursday’s 0-0 draw at French Guiana.
A strong defensive performance propelled the Spice Boys to the result and now a full three points in front of the home fans would put Grenada in the driver’s seat for not just promotion, but also a spot in the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.
Nevertheless, it is all still there to play for when it comes to French Guiana’s promotion and Gold Cup aspirations.
Les Yana Dokos are in second place with five points and can catapult past Sunday’s opponent with a win on opposition soil.
After Thursday’s goalless draw, Sunday’s 90 minutes will need to be the moment that the team’s goalscorers rise to the occasion.
For French Guiana, that means a strong performance from Alex Eric, while September hero Jamal Charles, who scored two late winning goals, will be the anchor for the home side.
