MIAMI, Florida – Week two of League C of the Concacaf Nations League is done and dusted and from a team and player perspective, there were many notable statistics.
After a week one in which attacks got to flex their scoring muscles, week two saw a revenge of the defenses. There were far fewer fireworks in week two with just 40 goals and 14 assists as compared to 47 and 20, respectively, in week one.
Week two was also the time for visiting teams to make the most of the scoring chances. After just 18 away goals in week one, there were 27 in week two, while the number of goals for the home team went down from 29 in week one to just 13 in week two.
Fans of matches ending in draws have been left bitterly disappointed through the first two weeks in League C, as there have been 20 wins out of 20 matches.
On an individual level, Guatemala danger man Danilo Guerra still wear’s the goalscoring crown in League C with six goals through the first two weeks, but if you are looking for a fast-starter, Guadeloupe’s Raphael Mirval is the guy, with three goals scored in the first half.
Mirval’s teammate Anthony Baron leads the way in passing efficiency with 96%, while Guerra has scored an astounding 66% of the time when he shoots.
In the back, not only has Lionel Brown of the US Virgin Islands played the most minutes among all goalkeepers (392), but he also has recorded the most saves with 21.
On a team level, Guatemala show no signs of stopping, with 20 goals in just three games, plus 13 assists, 68 scoring chances and a 92.4% passing efficiency rating.
But credit is also due to a tenacious Barbados side that is tops in ball recoveries (35), free kick goals (2) and corner kicks (27).
From back to front, League C has numbers that certainly catch the eye.
