MIAMI. - Montserrat ended its campaign with a 4-2 victory over Barbados in Group B of League B in the 2023-24 Concacaf Nations League at the Blakes Estate Stadium, Plymouth, Montserrat.
The victory sends off Montserrat with a 3-0-3 record. Barbados, relegated in the previous matchday, fought to exit League B with a victory and made a comeback bid in the second half.
Outside back Craig Braham and Josiah Dyer connected in the 21’ for the first good look for the hosts, but goalkeeper Liam Brathwaite was privy to the save.
Ackeel Applewhaite had the best chance for Barbados in the first half in the 26’, but goalkeeper Corrin Brooks got his hands to the attempt.
Montserrat’s Brandon Barzey opened the scoring in the 34’ with a long-range hit straight to the left side of goal.
Josiah Dyer extended the lead in the 36’ to 2-0 with a final touch inside the box to cap off a collective build-up through the right flank.
Rashad Jules was subbed on at the start of the second half and immediately impacted the match with a goal in the 47’, shooting from inside the penalty arc to finish a free kick opportunity for the visitors.
Jules nearly doubled his tally in the 55’ with a crossing strike that forced a save from Brooks.
Donervorn Daniels added a third for Montserrat in the 62’ with a header near the left post to convert on a free kick opportunity. Alex Dyer provided the pinpoint service to the far post for a 3-1 lead.
Dominic Richmond struck in the left upper corner in the 89’ to extend the lead for the hosts to 4-1.
Tajio James forced a turnover in stoppage time and would take a goal back for the visitors in the 90+4’ to complete the 4-2 scoreline.
