PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti Haiti and Curacao battled to a share of the spoils in a 1-1 draw on Monday afternoon in Group D of League A at the Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince.

The 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup semifinalists enjoyed a strong start and had the home fans on their feet in the 15’ with Frantzdy Pierrot finishing off a well-constructed goal by Les Grenadiers for a 1-0 lead.

Curacao showed plenty of fight on a night when they were playing with heavy hearts following the passing away of GK Jairzinho Pieter on Monday.

The Gold Cup quarterfinalists dug deep and managed to pull level in the 41’ when Elson Hooi hammered in a volley with his right foot to make it a 1-1 affair.

Both sides were keen to find a winning score in the second half, but the defenses ruled the final 45 minutes, leaving the two sides to settle for the draw.

With the result, Curacao sit atop the table with four points, while Haiti are second with one point.
