KINGSTOWN, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines – Saint Vincent and the Grenadines defeated Dominica 1-0 in Concacaf Nations League on Sunday afternoon in Group D of League B at the Arnos Vale Stadium in Kingstown, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
Both sides would create their share of opportunities in the first half, Dominica coming close to scoring with chances from Chad Bertrand and Briel Thomas.
Right before the stroke of halftime, Saint Vincent’s Azinho Solomon would strike a ball from outside the box that would bounce off the gloves of Dominica goalkeeper Glenson Prince. Chavel Cunningham would get on the end of the rebound to put his side in the lead in the 45+2’.
Gleaming with confidence after getting the lead, the Vincy Heat attack began the second half with a flurry of opportunities, but none would be able to find the back of the net.
Dominica would come just short of tying the match in stoppage time after Julian Wade found an open Malcolm Joseph at the opposite post. Home GK CK McKie would close the space to maintain the clean sheet.
With the result, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines improves to four points to stay in contention for the top of the group, while Dominica sit fourth.
