MIAMI, Florida – Bermuda, Montserrat and Belize all collected massive victories as week three of 2019/20 Concacaf Nations League Qualifying opened on Friday.
Bermuda faced a must-win at home against an undefeated El Salvador side and the islanders emerged with a 1-0 victory that keeps their 2019 Concacaf Gold Cup hopes alive, courtesy of a Nahki Wells goal in the 71’.
Bermuda is now 2W-0D-1L, 6 points, while El Salvador drops to 2W-0D-1L, 6 points.
After serving as the hero in the 1-0 win over Belize in week two, Spencer Weir once again delivered a game-winning goal for Montserrat in its 2-0 triumph over Aruba.
Weir pounced on a deflection to score in the 36’, which was followed by an absolute screamer from Bradley Woods in the 51’ to make it 2-0 and cement the three points for the Emerald Boys.
Montserrat’s record now stands at 2W-0D-1L, 6 points, while Aruba is 1W-1D-1L, 4 points.
A deflected effort from Denmark Casey in the 31’ proved to be enough to earn Belize a 1-0 win over Puerto Rico, also helping keep Belize’s Gold Cup chances intact.
Belize is now 2W-0D-1L, 6 points, while Puerto Rico falls to 0W-0D-3L, 0 points.
Earlier in the day Grenada picked up its first win of CNLQ by downing Saint Martin 5-2. Both Jamal Charles and Arthur Paterson bagged braces for the Spice Boys.
Grenada improve to 1W-0D-2L, 3 points, while Saint Martin is 0W-0D-3L, 0 points.
